We Must Go Deeper

Before the sharing of the word of the day, the servant of God took time to give prophetic utterances for the New Year as follows:

‘2013 is the year of God’s faithfulness to those who are committed to obedience’.  It’s God’s time to accomplish what He began. Note that the number 13 has been viewed this year; the church is being persuaded to be doers of God’s word, stand in obedience, and pray to enter the season of maturity and victory. We are compelled to tarry at His feet at all times till we witness the purpose and promise of God (Luke 2:36-38):

Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; 37 and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. 38 And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

May the Lord go ahead of you (Isaiah 52:12). Keep on pressing, a breakthrough is just about to happen. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit at all times.

Christians must enter and possess gates of the enemies this year (Deuteronomy 11). It’s time to press on with prayer and praise. We must have a divine appointment with God and He will give us a season of rest. This will turn to be a season of trumpet blowing which is a sign of victory and new beginning.

Theme: We must go deeper

Ezekiel 47 portrays deep lessons on getting deeper with the Lord. At the ankle level of the water, there is shallowness; the water is dirty and with frogs. People who are always reactive are at the ankle level in their Christian maturity. At the knee level, it’s the prayer point. At the loin’s level, it’s the belt of truth and the truth will set you free. The neck level symbolizes victory over every enemy.

God promised to give us power to break the neck of our enemies and this only happens when we swim deeply in the spirit of God.

Which level in the waters are you? Are you in the shallow waters which reach the ankle? Are you in the waters which reach the knee or loins?  Or are you in the waters which are the deepest, which reach the neck?

2 Kings 6:8-20

8Once when the king of Syria was warring against Israel, he took counsel with his servants saying, “At such and such place shall be my camp.” 9 But the man of God sent word to the king of Israel, “Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Syrians are going down there.”  10And the king of Israel sent to the place about which the man of God told him. Thus he used to warn him, so that he saved himself there more than once or twice.

11 And the mind of the king of Syria was greatly troubled because of this thing, and he called his servants and said to them, “Will you not show me who of us is of the king of Israel?”   12And one of his servants said, “None, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”  13And he said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and seize him.” It was told him, “Behold, he is in Dothan.” So he sent their horses and chariots and a great army, and they came by night and surrounded the city.

15When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”  16He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”  17Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 18And when the Syrians came down against him, Elisha prayed to the LORD and said, “Please strike this people with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness in accordance with the prayer of Elisha. 19And Elisha said to them, “This is not the way, and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek.” And he led them to Samaria.

20As soon as they entered Samaria, Elisha said, “O LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see.” So the LORD opened their eyes and they saw, and behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.

Elisha was well positioned and this made him able to know the secrets of God, discern the schemes of the enemy, and share with children of God appropriately. Prayer with revelation changes everything and gives a person a prophetic eye and insight. This makes one fearless and with no panic. Whenever one looks at things physically, there’s a possibility of panic.

Make a choice to hook up with those who see things the way God has put them just as Elisha did. Pray that your eyes will be opened to believe the invisible and impossible. With open eyes, we experience great encounters since we pray with a revelation:

John 16:24
Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
"Until now you have not asked for anything, so pray, pray, pray!

Let us return to the real Miracle Worker, and miracles will follow us. God is a covenant keeping God and will give you vision, revelation and discernment.

Note the following points from the text (2 Kings 6:8-20):

  • Prayer is the key to discerning our adversary strategies (verse 9).
  • The power to dispel panic is through prayer.
  • Pray specifically. Ask God exactly what you want and what He has kept in store for you.
  • Learn to start with then kingdom issues and the rest will follow and remain positioned where you are supposed to be.
  • The answer came immediately when Elisha prayed. Live a righteous life and you will enjoy the fruits of holiness: James 5:16 “The prayer of a righteous man avails much results.”
  • Seeking to the invisible will make you live a victorious life.
  • In prayer, you discern spiritual issues from God’s perspective: Jeremiah 1:12 “God watches His word to perform it.”

In conclusion, it is time to pray like Elisha that the Lord may blinden your enemies and open the eyes of His servant. Stephen’s eyes were opened and he saw the heavens, when he was being persecuted. John the revelator had his eyes opened and so wrote the book of Revelations. Blind Bartimaeus had his eyes opened through prayer when he called on Jesus.

Be faithful in prayer and you will get to know Him more and more. Amen.
