Prayer with Results Part 2
Time has come that you may know that signs and wonders will follow those who believe. Time has come for us when we call upon the Lord we be sure that He has answered. We are a people who will see fruitfulness and see results for every prayer we make.
We continue from where we left last week, on answering the question, "how can you be that person who prays prayers that bears fruits?"
We started by saying that we have to know according to the will of God when praying, and be careful when praying, taking time to know how God wants you to pray. Let us not be hasty making prayers without knowing how to pray. Know what is in the mind of God regarding what you are praying about. In the days of ignorance, God overlooked (Acts 17:30). Now that we know what prayer is, we will pray accordingly, according to the word of God. The will of God is in His word. When praying for someone to be healed, instead of using many words, just pray like: "I declare that the stripes of Jesus we were healed (1 Peter 2:24), and that according to the word of God we shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover (Mark 16:17-18). Receive your healing (as you place your hands on them)." That's enough prayer, and they will receive their healing. When praying for someone to receive provision in terms of food to eat for a prolonged period, praying, "I declare that the Lord shall supply your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19) from today henceforth and you will never lack (Psalm 34:10)," is enough prayer. Know how to pray according to the word of God, which is His will.
Pray according to the nature and character of God.
God is faithful, awesome, good, loving etc. Pray knowing that God is the same yesterday, today and forever, and that He is the Creator of the universe. When you pray according to the nature and character of God, the devil cannot challenge your prayer as he knows that you know who your God is and who you are praying to.
May the Lord help us to pray for the nation, our brothers and sisters etc. May He help us to know how to pray.
When you pray according to the will of God and according to the nature and character of God, He is not a respector of person and will answer you. He will not answer my prayer and not answer you, if you pray according to His will, nature and character.
2. Pray with confidence
Prayer made with confidence before the Lord is very impactful. We need not be double minded when praying, thinking if it's possible or not. Pray knowing that God is limitless, and be confident.
1 Kings 18:20-40
So Ahab sent for all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together on Mount Carmel. 21 And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word. 22 Then Elijah said to the people, “I alone am left a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men. 23 Therefore let them give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it. 24 Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.”
So all the people answered and said, “It is well spoken.”
25 Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.” 26 So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, “O Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made.
27 And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.” 28 So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them. 29 And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.
30 Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down. 31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.” 32 Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed. 33 And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, “Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.” 34 Then he said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time. 35 So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.
36 And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. 37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”
38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. 39 Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!” 40 And Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let one of them escape!” So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the Brook Kishon and executed them there.
The extent to which you know your God is the extent to which you place your confidence in Him. The much you know your God is the level to which you will put your trust in Him.
Pray with confidence, and speak to your confidence about your God. Elijah prayed saying that he did what he did according to the word, and asked for God to answer. The Lord who answered Elijah has not changed, and He who answered him by fire will answer you. Arise in faith, and have confidence in your God. Refuse to be in that scenario that makes your God to be mocked, arise and speak confidently about your God. Let every one know of your God, and challenge your faith. Let them know your God, and prove Him to them.
Dare God. You are where you are, but it is just for now. What is it that you think needs to be resurrected? Stand with confidence and faith and proclaim God's word over it, and speak life to it in Jesus' name. Command fruitfulness to your business, children, house, church etc., according to the word of God. It is time we see the Lord who stands to defend His word. Ask it from the Lord. Elijah did not do anything apart from simply call on the Name of the Lord his God.
God is omnipresent, speak a word in confidence and believe it to work even over distance.
John 11:41b-42a
“Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me...
Jesus, in His human form, as a Son, had confidence in the ability of His Father to answer, and said this. It is time we change our prayers and pray like Jesus did.
2 Timothy 1:12
For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.
Do you know and are persuaded that God is able to do that which you are trusting Him for?
James 1:6-8
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Revelation 8:3-4
Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand.
Our prayers are answered by God. They reach His throne through the angels, and all you can see is smoke, your prayers having been consumed by God.
Next week we will discuss on righteous living that will make our prayers effectful, and asking in His name.
