Wait on the Lord

Before you make a decision, you must wait on God. Many times we pray and pray, but do not take time to wait on God, to be still before Him, listen to His still small voice. When things are not working the way you want them to be, wait on God. Adequate knowledge and understanding of the ways of God comes only when you learn how to wait on God patiently. Waiting on God gives us a chance to give thanks to Him.

When we wait on God, he does exactly what we asked/ prayed Him to do, and we’ll have an opportunity to thank God for what He’s done. Giving thanks comes after waiting on God.  The person who is waiting on God will see the manifestation of God’s great power. Manifestations come when you wait on God. we only hear from God when we still ourselves, and wait on God.

Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God;

For us to experience His mighty power, we have to return to our true place, the place that we belong to, the place of absolute and unceasing dependence on God.

Psalm 62:1
Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation.

As we wait on God, that is where we receive our salvation, deliverance, redemption etc. If our salvation indeed comes only from God, and this is His entirely good work to finish what He started, then we have no choice but to be still and wait on Him. We have to learn to wait on God as a church, individuals, children, as saints.

As we wait, it should be for that which pleases God, not that which pleases us. What pleases God in your life? It is His will that pertains to your life pleases Him. It’s not what I want that pleases God, but that which He wants. You are a vessel; let Him mold you into what He wants you to do.

Let your soul wait on God only; for there is joy and hope in waiting on God. God unceasingly works as we wait for Him as His children, unceasingly. If you are to please God, it will be by waiting on Him.

Genesis 49:18
I have waited for your salvation, O LORD!

Jacob said that he was waiting on God as He was blessing His children. You cannot see how Jacob was waiting on God while prophesying to them; but as you read it carefully, you see that He was waiting on God to be given the right word for His children.  He waited on God to receive a word for every son, and every son had a specific prophecy, a word from God.

For us to identify and know our callings, we must wait on God to serve effectively. You cannot copy anyone, not even in ministry. To be what you are you must wait on God.

As we wait on God for His salvation, we will move out from that waiting place with a solution.

Psalm 145:14, 15
The Lord upholds all who fall, and raises up all who are bowed down. 15 The eyes of all look expectantly to You, and You give them their food in due season.

God is asking us to wait on Him in total surrender, in trust. We must wait on God even for supplies. God will supply all your needs, in due season; but you have to wait on God. What do you want God to supply you with?

If Jesus did not wait on God, He would not have known what was written, to fight temptations with. Wait for a supply that will come only from God. After you pray, you get in the fire. While you pray, ensure that you listen for the supply (of God's word) to help you in times of fire.

We should learn to wait on God for supplies.

Even an army will have to wait for supplies, before advancing in fighting. Because we are the army of God, if we do not wait on supplies for battle, we will fail in the battle. We cannot get out of prayer. As we pray, let us learn to wait on God, and He will come with supplies, in due season. We should also not advance without supplies. The supply that we need to advance in the kingdom of God and to bring down the kingdom of the enemy is the word of God.

Psalm 25:4,5
Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.

The supply that the army sometimes waits for is instructions. You can wait for God throughout the day and night, and He is so faithful, He will give you an instructions. As we wait on God, He will instruct us on what to do, and this is the total surrender for divine guidance. Let your soul wait on the Lord for divine guidance. Instead of doing something and regretting later, wait on God. if we do not wait for His guidance, we will be ashamed and regretful later.

Psalm 25:3
Indeed, let no one who waits on you be ashamed; let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.

Psalm 27:14
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!

If you want strength and courage, wait on the Lord. You will move out with boldness and confidence as you wait on God. God strengthens you as you wait on Him. As you wait on God, He will surely come.

Psalm 31:24
Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord.

Our waiting depends on the status of the heart. If you want your heart to be strengthened as you wait on God, look up to God. May you learn to  wait on the Lord, for your heart to be strengthened, for if the heart is weak, the body will be weak. If the heart is strengthened, the body will be strengthened.

Psalm 37:7, 9
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.

As you wait on God, He will wait on whatever circumstance/ situation that is bothering you.

Psalm 37:34
Wait on the Lord, and keep His way, and He shall exalt you to inherit the land;

As we wait on Him, we will keep His ways. As we wait on God, He will show us His ways; He will show us where our miracle is. As human beings, we desire different ways from God’s. let us keep the ways of God as we wait on Him, so as not to lose direction, and catch up without destinies, miracles etc. He will show us the way. You will not miss the way as you wait on the Lord.

Psalm 40:1, 3
I waited patiently for the Lord, and He inclined to me…

A new song comes when you wait on God. This year we should be determined to sing a new song, for Him to release a new song to us.

We need to be kingdom couriers; whenever we go with the kingdom, nothing will be able to stand against you as nothing can stand against the kingdom. Carry the key of David, wherever you go.

Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

Be an eagle Christian, soaring high, as we wait on God.

The best evangelism is on your knees, serving God like Anna. As you wait on God, you can do wonders.as the first church in Acts 2 and 4 waited on God, the church was increased.

Seek to understand the calling and gift of God, for you to receive that is good and from Him alone.
