Agree to be Led
In the year 2016 let us agree to be led by God. There are
times that as a parent, being a mother to many spiritual sons and daughters and
my own biological children, there are times I feel like holding my children’s
hands to direct them, lead them across the road and so on. A parent may see
that where the child is at is at a dangerous place and want to remove the
child, but if the child loves being there they will want to remain there and
even refuse to be removed from that place. The parent tries to take the hand of
the child and remove them from danger but the child resists and wants to remain
there. The second time the parent wants to rescue the child he/she may feel
like allowing the child to remain there and experience the danger, especially
if the child is grown and no longer a 2 year old child.
As long as we let the Lord lead us in our lives in every
way, we’ll never be hit by the dangers of the world. He knows where the dangers
are, where the pits are, where to turn left, right, north, south and so on. If only
human beings were cautious and realised that they are children that need to be
led, despite the worldly qualifications, and surrendered to God in humility to
be led, then God’s purpose would prevail. We ought to get to a place where we
see that we cannot even choose what to wear, eat, where to go, who to be with,
which songs to listen to, what message to preach/share, who to talk to and so
on, without God’s leading.
Agree to have a beginning where the Lord will lead, this
year. You have led yourself in the recent years, and there has been
consequences. Let us surrender to be led by God, walking hand in hand with
Jesus, and make this our desire. Just like a child may ignore the parents’
warnings of danger and suffer consequences and start blaming the parents,
wondering where they were, when we ignore God’s warnings we’ll suffer
consequences, and start thinking He neglected us. When we undergo trouble in
God’s way and under God’s leading, the troubles will not consume us. When you
know the Lord is leading, even when sure that that is danger you are seeing,
you will be confident, not being afraid, knowing that even if they manage to
destroy your body, they cannot touch your spirit and soul (Matt. 10:28). Daniel
walked with God, and was willing to be thrown into the lion’s den, and though the
trouble came it did not affect his life, stand and walk with God. The same
happened to Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, who got to trouble and were
confident that God would rescue them, but even if He didn’t they would continue
to serve God, and continue to follow His leading. Don’t allow the principles of
the world lead you; be led by God’s Word.
Purpose to always let God lead, irrespective of what
comes your way. God loves us so much and will not give up on giving us chances.
He is still gentle and will not force us in His ways. In 2016, agree to be led
by the Lord.
God is more than willing to lead us, even more than we
are willing to be led.
The Lord is my
shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in
green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He
restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s
sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You
prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head
with oil; My cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of
the Lord forever. Psalm 23:1-6
A shepherd will feed his sheep; under the leadership of
our Shepherd we get feed, guidance and protection:
The Lord is my
Shepherd [to feed, guide and shield me], I shall not lack. Psalm 23:1 (AMP)
The shepherds of the old days used to lead the sheep.
Jesus is not the kind of Shepherd that tells us to be left behind as we move
forward, rather One that has already gone ahead of us and keeps leading our
path. He understands all we’re going through, our pain and all, as He is our
Shepherd. Don’t be afraid about tomorrow as Jesus is our Shepherd.
When God leads there is rest. This is rest of the soul,
even as people panic all over. The Lord wants you to enjoy rest, at all times,
no matter what you are going through. There will be so much peace irrespective
of what the physical eye sees or what the ear hears, if you allow Him to lead.
As a good Shepherd, He causes us to be refreshed and walk
in the paths of righteousness. This is not us doing what we want to do, rather
what He wants us to accomplish. Paths of righteousness is having a right
standing with Him, and also accomplishing what He wants you to accomplish.
When He is your Shepherd, He will protect and comfort
you. He will also cause you to enjoy honour, as you allow Him to lead. When the
Lord leads you, behind you there will be goodness, love and mercy following
you, and going before you.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For
you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the
Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The
Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and
if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we
suffer with Him, that
we may also be glorified together.
Romans 8:14-17
In 2016, it’s not about being led by feelings, rather by
the Spirit of God. God has to speak and be heard, and His voice followed. When
you are there as a human being, wondering if you heard Him or not, He will
speak again, and lead you in His way, so that you don’t walk by your feelings.
His Word is a full confirmation of what He wants us to know.
for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13
