PLANTED AND GROWING IN CHRIST

What does it mean, as believers to say that we are planted in Christ? Before we embark on this journey, let us first understand the phrase “be planted”. This phrase literally means to be stationed on one place and cultured to develop or grow. Take for instance a plant; once a plant is in the ground, it is expected to take in nutrients from the soil in order to grow to a tree. This case applies to us believers when we accepted Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we were automatically planted in the kingdom of God and we need to intake the commandments and discipline from God in order to grow.

To base this sermon with the scripture, let us look at the following scriptural verses;

Psalm 1:1-3 New King James Version (NKJV)
1 Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.

Psalm 92:13 New King James Version (NKJV)
13 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord
Shall flourish in the courts of our God.

Isaiah 60:21 New King James Version (NKJV)
21 Also your people shall all be righteous;
They shall inherit the land forever,
The branch of My planting,
The work of My hands,
That I may be glorified.

Being planted in Christ means staying in the kingdom despite any situation you are currently in; developing roots and moving upwards to a fully developed tree full of life in abundance. Many Christians seek for an exit route once they go through trials and temptations in their lives. Contrast this to a tree; a tree starts out as a seedling and starts developing roots edging deeper in into the soil so that when dry seasons and floods come, the roots remain hooked and firm despite the branches being scorched or destroyed. Therefore, as believers, we should emulate a tree which is deep rooted as we should be deep rooted in the word of God and His Love. Some of the benefits for believers who are planted and deep-rooted in God are:
1. Those planted in God shall flourish in the courts of God. Psalm 92:13
2. They shall always bear fruit even in old age. Psalm 92:14
3. They shall always be fresh and flourishing. Psalm 92:14
4. They shall always be rich; spiritually and physically.
5. They shall always be fruitful and dwell in increase.
Blessings Galore.
