BE STILL

Psalm 46:1-3, 7-11
Psalm 46:1-3 New King James Version (NKJV)
God the Refuge of His People and Conqueror of the Nations
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A Song for Alamoth.
46 God is our refuge and strength,
A[a] very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the [b]midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

Psalm 46:7-11 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
Come, behold the works of the Lord,
Who has made desolations in the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.
10 Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Sometimes in life we tend to get troubled about things in our lives not going the right way. At times we are bothered by the things of the past and the things of the future… questioning the happenings of life.
Believers, this sermon is meant to edify you to be still for God remains to be God and trust in Him to lead you in your path.
The beauty part of being still and waiting on the Lord yields the best results and once the promise has manifested, it can never be thwarted.

Isaiah 30:15 New King James Version (NKJV)
15 For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel:
“In returning and rest you shall be saved;
In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”
But you would not,
So believers, being still means letting God have His way in your life, to move and manifest His glory in your life so that whatever is good and noble may be found within you.
Daniel 6:3 New King James Version (NKJV)
Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.

Daniel was one great Bible legend who was still even to the point in the lion’s den were it seemed hopeless and God (the Lion of Judah) rescued him and set him up on higher authority than before.

2 Chronicles 20:17-18 New King James Version (NKJV)
17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”
18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem bowed before the Lord, worshiping the Lord.
Another great illustration is King Jehoshaphat who was surrounded by different armies against Judah, he obeyed the voice of God and was still and victory was granted to him without even fighting.

Read the following verses
·         Acts 16:16-40 (Paul and Silas were still and the jail doors were open)
·         Acts 12:3-11(Peter was still and he was freed from prison)

So how do we be still and waiting on God?
  1. Have a total dependence on God- Believers, trust in God wholly and not double minded (having backups in case it does not work)
  2. Purpose in your heart to forever praise God
  3. Pray without ceasing- prayer is enough to get you out of your situation
  4. Purpose to glorify God.

Believers, in this season and the seasons to come, purpose to be still and wait on the Lord (God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, Our God) He shall surely come to your rescue and elevate you to greater heights.
Be Blessed
