Character of an overcoming Christian

For us not to be discouraged, to rise again and to have a God who answers by fire, we must have CHARACTER.

We may cry to God not to ever let us be discouraged, to help us rise again and to be our God who answers by fire, but if we do not have the character that can sustain the blessings of God it's all in vain.

Romans 12:1-2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Do things right here on earth, that heaven will be waiting for you when you get there. We must bear fruits here on earth, and to do that we must have the character of Christ.

Methuselah lived a long life (969 years), but not much is mentioned about Him (Gen. 5:25-26). Enoch and Noah lived a fulfilled life as they walked with God and pleased Him (Gen. 5:22-24; 6:8-9).

What kind of a Christian are you? We should have a character that will make us distinct, that will make a difference.

Matthew 28:19-20
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

You can make disciples by your way of thinking. Thinking least to speaking; changing your thinking is the beginning of being a Christian with an outstanding character.

What can you do to attain a character that will make you a victorious Christian?

  1. Have a daily walk with God.
Walk with the Lord before your feet start walking. Walking with God every morning guarantees favor. Walking with God means that you don't have to wake up alone. he knows where the danger lies, and will divert you from it.

Stop leading yourself. Walking with God ensures that you hear Him reassure you that He loves you every now and then, which will cause you to walk with confidence always. Walking with God ensures that diseases and lack, though they come, will never overwhelm you.

Before you seek other people's company, seek to walk with God. You should allow Christ to live through you (Galatians 2:20).

You receive God's glory when you decide to walk with Him. Learn to walk with God until you start seeing physical manifestation.

Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

You can't walk with God until you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you. Deny yourself of anything that doesn't please God. You should pick up your cross and follow Christ, daily (Matthew 16:24).
Time has come that we have the desire to be drunk with the Holy Spirit, that we crave for Him more than anything first thing in the morning. That before we have tea or coffee we first seek to be drunk of the Holy Spirit.

    2.     Be a God pleaser

Above all else, be a God-pleaser.

Noah pleased God (Gen. 6:9). A pleaser of God will be more concerned with what makes God smile. We'll please God by the way we dress, talk, walk, think, etc. We should be busy doing what pleases God, casting out thoughts and imaginations that don't please God.

How we present our bodies matter to God (Romans 12:1-2). The purpose of the world is contrary to the matters of the Spirit. The world wants a difference, we should be that difference.

Until your mind is transformed and renewed, you will never be able to understand the will of God.

If you walk with God and make pleasing Him your first priority, you will start having a Character of an overcoming Christian.
