Doing the Word Part 4
An airplane may not seem to be moving while it is in the
air, whereas it is actually moving at very fast speeds. Your situation may not
seem to be moving, but it is actually moving at very fast speeds as God is in
control and working on your behalf. Do not use your eyes to judge the movement,
as long as God is at work just be assured that you are moving.
The only way you can successfully be a doer of the Word, is
if you are always in obedience to the Word of God.
Deuteronomy 28:1-2
“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice
of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command
you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the
earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because
you obey the voice of the Lord your God..”
“If” in the above verse means that the promise is
conditional. Blessings do not come because of prayer, they come because of
obedience. Obedience is the key thing. Obedience will cause God’s blessings to
come upon you and overtaken you.
Why does God asks to obey Him?
Obedience means that you are trusting God. Obedience tells
God that you have judged Him and proved that He is faithful.
John 2:5
His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
Every miracle is connected to a divine instruction. Ever miracle, no matter how "simple" it may seem, has an instruction behind it. If you are struggling to get a miracle in your life, look for the instruction because it is there. You will always stagnate and remain with your problems if you do not find out the instruction you are supposed to be obeying, in order to see the miracle appropriated in your life.
The Bible is a book full of divine instructions. If you are in an exam, you have to carefully read the instructions if you want to pass. If you do not do this, you may answer questions you are not supposed to tackle, fail to answer the ones you are supposed to do or answer questions inappropriately. This is true also for the Bible. You are required to carefully read the instructions in the Bible behind the promises or miracles you want to see in your life, then do exactly as you are told.
Numbers 23:19
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Psalm 89:34
My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.
God can not lie, change His mind, nor alter what He has said. He will do exactly what He has said, and can not alter what He has said for any one. Your assignment is to obey what He has said and follow the instructions carefully, because if you do not do this He will not alter His word in order to give you your miracle. If God decided to perform your miracle despite you not obeying the instructions behind the promise, He would be altering His word and thus be a liar. God is not a man that He should lie.
Jeremiah 1:12
Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.”
God watches His Word to fulfill it. If you obey His word, He is watching to fulfill it in your life. The only thing you have to do is be a doer of the Word. The mistake many people do is to hold on to a promise and fail to put the conditions that come with the promise in mind, to fulfil them. Let us take one promise that many people stand with:
Deuteronomy 28:7
“The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.
The condition for this promise is found in verse 1 of the same chapter:
Deuteronomy 28:1-2
“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:
God is watching to see that His word is fulfilled, if we will be careful to observe to do what He commands us to do. You cannot separate a promise from the condition. God will be faithful to fulfil His promise over our life, if we will be faithful to observe carefully what He commands:
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Let us look at a man who was careful to observe what the Lord commanded:
Genesis 12:1-2
Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.
Abram's blessing was tied to a divine instruction - to get out of his country and leave his family. This he obeyed, and we see his obedience continued in Genesis 17:
Genesis 17:23-27
23 So Abraham took Ishmael his son, all who were born in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very same day, as God had said to him. 24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. 25 And Ishmael his sonwas thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. 26 That very same day Abraham was circumcised, and his son Ishmael; 27 and all the men of his house, born in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.
Delayed obedience is disobedience. Abraham understood this concept and obeyed God the same day he was instructed to be circumcised and to circumcise his household. A barenness of 24 years was broken by the immediate obedience of Abraham. When you obey God, He will reveal to you the secrets of heaven.
Psalm 25:14
The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.Immediate obedience touches the heart of God. Your obedience will provoke heaven.
The supernatural will not occur on earth without the cooperation of the natural. The natural has to occur for the supernatural to come to pass.
The Bible is full of people who took a risk and obeyed God. Such people provoked heaven and experienced the blessings of God.
What we need as Christians is to know who Jesus is, know what He wants us to do, and do it! Paul understood this concept, as we see in the book of Acts:

Acts 9:3-6
3 As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. 4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” 5 And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” 6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”
Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

It is every Christians assignment to know Jesus personally and get to know what He wants us to do. Obedience may not make sense, but still do it. We finish this series by the words of Mary the mother of Jesus, at the wedding of Cana when the wine ran out:
John 2:5

Whatever Jesus says to you, DO IT!
