Waiting Upon the Lord
We have to be on the progressive mode. I am introducing you to the progressive mode, as it is a time that we purpose not to go back a single step. If we agree to pray, believe and wait, the nations shall testify to the fact that we are of influence, having been transformed by the word of God. It is time we say no to fall backs.
The moment we pray, we have a bond and are merged with our Creator.
Like we saw last week, when you pray, always have a self evaluation to know how to pray and what to mention in prayer. God has all the miracles, blessings and grace, and prayer is the best way to appropriate and apply our faith.
Psalm 40:1-10 (AMP)
I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. 2 He drew me up out of a horrible pit [a pit of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay (froth and slime), and set my feet upon a rock, steadying my steps and establishing my goings.
3 And He has put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many shall see and fear (revere and worship) and put their trust and confident reliance in the Lord. 4 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who makes the Lord his refuge and trust, and turns not to the proud or to followers of false gods.
5 Many, O Lord my God, are the wonderful works which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; no one can compare with You! If I should declare and speak of them, they are too many to be numbered. 6 Sacrifice and offering You do not desire, nor have You delight in them; You have given me the capacity to hear and obey [Your law, a more valuable service than] burnt offerings and sin offerings [which] You do not require.
7 Then said I, Behold, I come; in the volume of the book it is written of me; 8 I delight to do Your will, O my God; yes, Your law is within my heart. 9 I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great assembly [tidings of uprightness and right standing with God]. Behold, I have not restrained my lips, as You know, O Lord.
10 I have not concealed Your righteousness within my heart; I have proclaimed Your faithfulness and Your salvation. I have not hid away Your steadfast love and Your truth from the great assembly.
We need to wait on God like David did, patiently and expectantly. We need an expectation. The Bible says that our expectation shall not be cut off (Proverbs 23:18).
The Lord inclined His ear to the psalmist's cry. If you have purposed to wait on the Lord patiently and expectantly, God will incline His ear to your cry.
After hearing your cry, He places you on a rock.
Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
He has placed us on the Rock, Jesus Christ.
To wait is to patiently anticipate. What are you anticipating? Do not be anticipating for small things; anticipate for big things, that your big God can accomplish. Patiently anticipate and wait on God for big things, for in the fullness of time God will bring it to pass.
There is something we are all interested in. The psalmist waited on God, and God answered Him; since God is not a respecter of persons, He will answer you too. If God answered David, He will answer you too.
When we are patiently anticipating, there are things we won't do, places we won't go, things we won't listen to, just like a pregnant mother. When the time comes for your miracle to come forth, be sensitive in your spirit. The time for your miracle is now.
Waiting on the Lord will require you to choose on your company, conversation, etc., not to abort your miracle. Be careful who you talk to, and the words you hear. Choose what to eat/ feed on, while waiting on God; feed on the word of God. The word of God will keep you fresh, waiting on God, and ensure that your miracle does not go stale.
Imagine a farmer who uproots his seed before the harvest time, a few days after planting, saying that it has taken time to grow, and as a result plants a different crop that he thinks will grow faster. A farmer plants and patiently waits for the rain to come, because the rains will bring a harvest
(James 5:7-8).
Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. 8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
You ahve to wait, for the harvest to come, just like a farmer. Do not uproot before the harvest. May the Spirit of God enable us to wait patiently and expectantly. Waiting requires obedience.
What are some of the benefits of waiting on the Lord?
Jesus promised the disciples the Promise of the Holy Spirit if they waited in Jerusalem, and it happened (Luke 24:59-53, Acts 1:4; 2:1-8). While you wait, keep in mind God's last instructions. If He told you to stay, stay; if He told you to move, move; whatever He told you to do, do as your miracle is tied to your obedience. If the disciples moved from Jerusalem, they would have missed out on the Promise.
Great manifestations will happen when we learn to wait on God in prayer, songs and obedience.
Isaiah 40:28-31 (AMP)
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding. 29 He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound]. 30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted;
31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.
Isaiah 30:18
Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; and therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him.
God waits for you to wait on Him, for Him to be gracious to you.
Psalm 27:14
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!
Psalm 37:7-9
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. 8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret—it only causes harm. 9 For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth.
Psalm 37:34
Wait on the Lord, and keep His way, and He shall exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
Psalm 130:5-6
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. 6 My soul waits for the Lord
More than those who watch for the morning—Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.
Wait on the Lord church.
Amen.

What are some of the benefits of waiting on the Lord?
- God will incline His ear to you. When we patiently wait on Him and pray, God will incline His ear to us. Pray till you get it. Do not stop praying, believing and waiting, until you have an inner witness that lets you know that you have it. We need to be sensitive so we know when the miracle has already come.
- God will lift you up from a desperate situation. The same God who picked up David from mud and mire is the same God who will pick you up (see Isaiah 41:10, Exodus 15:6). Do not fear or dismayed, for the Lord will pick you up. Every one who waits on the Lord will stand as a witness to many of the Lord's faithfulness.
- God will place you on an unshakeable Rock. This is not about you; it is about God. When everything else is sinking, God's establishment will not be shaken. You can be a born again Christian and still be in mud and mire; God can still pick you up. Whatever you are struggling with, God has an abundance of it. You have a choice: either to wait on God, or stay in mud and mire. Hold on to Jesus, the Rock of abundance, joy, peace, restoration etc.
- Waiting on God will give you a new song. Do not stop singing. The song will be from your spirit.
- God will make you a testimony as you wait on Him. That which was mud and mire is being made into a testimony. Many will see, because the purpose is to glorify God. Just like David in Psalm 41:10, you will not be able to hold back the testimony. When we wait patiently, God will do so many miracles and signs that cannot be numbered.
- You will never cease to obey Him; it's not about the sacrifice. You will obey, knowing where God has brought you from. Witnesses of what God has done will walk in obedience, as they know who their God is; they cannot compromise. God gives you a spirit of obedience, you knowing God is your provider. People who do not wait on God compromise to keep what they sought for themselves. If you wait on God, you cannot afford to compromise.
- There will be records of those who wait on God. Those who wait on God will not be put to shame.

Psalm 37:7-9
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,

Do not fret—it only causes harm. 9 For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth.
Psalm 37:34

Psalm 130:5-6
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. 6 My soul waits for the Lord
More than those who watch for the morning—Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.
Wait on the Lord church.
Amen.
