Eyesight Checkup

Joshua 6:1-2.
Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in. And the LORD said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor.

When we align our physical vision with our spiritual vision, we will walk in clarity and boldness.

We have two eyes, on the physical. Each eye is uniquely made and identical to the other. The two eyes work together. Your two eyes, each whole on its own, function together in preciseness, focusing on one area at a time. Even if you were focusing on a dot, both of them would focus there. If one of them was off and if one of them was off by a degree or inch, then your vision would be blurry. The two function perfectly as one, even moving together as one.

As a believer, you also have two sets of eyes, your physical eyes and your spiritual eyes. Both of them have to function in unison, otherwise you will have a blurry sight of things in your walk with God. Your physical eyesight must be in complete alignment with your spiritual eyesight, for you to experience the life that God created for you to live. You are a spirit, God is Spirit, the word of God is spirit. The word of God will help align your physical eyesight to your spiritual eyesight.

For example, the word of God says that by the stripes of Jesus you were healed (1 Peter 2:24). Your physical eyes see the illness. For you to experience healing, which is what the bread for the children (Matt. 15:26), you have to align your physical eyes to see yourself the way God sees you, the way your spiritual eyes see you, the way the word of God sees you – healed. If not, you will have a blurry vision, wondering why you are sick whereas God says He loves you, and start wondering, “why do bad things happen go good people?” ending up in a helpless and hopeless situation.

For you to get clarity in your walk with Christ and enjoy the life of God, align your physical eyesight to your spiritual eyesight, by the word of God. It is not automatic; it takes effort, deliberately spending time in the word.

You have two minds: your physical mind (part of soul), and your spiritual mind (Rom. 12:2, 1 Cor. 2:16). Your physical mind is limited (1 Cor. 13:9), and needs to be renewed by the word of God, while your spiritual mind is unlimited, and knows everything (1 John 2:20). Both these minds need to function in sync, for you to walk in one vision. The only way they can function in sync is when you keep fixing your eyes on the word of God, renewing your mind with the word. Despite the fact that your spirit knows all things and is always in line with the word of God, the only hindrance to you walking according to the word perfectly is your unrenewed mind. Renewal of the mind is a process, and is mandatory for every believer, as it's also a requirement for us to receive from God:

James 1:6-8
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Double-mindedness comes about when your physical and unrenewed mind is out of sync with your spiritual mind, with the word of God. This creates a state of confusion, where you want to do what the word of God says, but your mind is going in an opposite direction, full of doubt. The solution to this is mind-renewal. When this happens, you will maintain a single vision in your walk with Christ. Since your eyes are the windows of your body and your mind, the more you focus on the word of God, the more your mind will compel you to walk in sync with the word of God.

Do you want to enjoy the new life God predestined for you to live, way before you were born? See things the way God sees them, through the word of God. Get in the word of God, and get the word of God in you.

Blessings.
