Setting Our Spiritual Goals Above the Standards of the World.
Many at times human beings set yearly goals based on how the world is at the moment.
As believers, our minds and hearts are transformed to set goals based on the Word of God.
Colossians 3:1-3 New King James Version (NKJV)
Not Carnality but Christ
3 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Christian resolution for the year should entail the following:
1. Reading and studying the Word of God.
Keep in mind that the Word of God is alive and active. If you cannot read then listen to the word of God. 1 Peter 2:2 emphasizes on aspiring to grow by knowing the Word of God. Eat spiritual food. Make it a daily act to devote yourself to studying the Word. Surround yourself with the Word of God. Make the word of God the first priority. Do it every morning every day as it helps us to grow spiritually.
2. Meditation
This is to dwell on anything in thought. Exploring in depth, for example, the way ruminants chew curd to get the best of nutrients. It is the duty of Christians to meditate and gain deeper understanding and revelation of the Word. Meditation gives insight into the way we live, the songs we sing and what we say.
Joshua 1:8 New King James Version (NKJV)
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you[a] shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Meditation allows the Holy Spirit to remind and teach us. Psalms 1 tells us that meditation will cause us to prosper. Through meditation our thoughts changes, it pushes away negativity and keeps us on the right track of salvation. It is our duty to stay away from worldly things such as those aired on media today that teaches us on worldly beauty, fashion, love, and marriage which influence our life choices.
Read more on meditation in Philippians 4:8.
3. Do the Word of God.
Matthew 7:24-25 New King James Version (NKJV)
Build on the Rock
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
Build on the right foundations. Obey the word of God on forgiveness. Be strong and do not compromise.
James 1:22-24 New King James Version (NKJV)
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
Be a hearer and a doer. Failing to do Gods Word is to deceive yourself.
Fulfilling the will of God attracts blessing and leads to the manifestation of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. To receive restoration this 2019 we must be doers of the Word. Being a Christian is not just a name. It is being Christ-like and manifesting His character to the world. Living as a Christian is performing and working for God, not people. In the workplace be thankful to God and reflect Christ. Being a Christian means being built on the firm foundation, being righteous even when no one is watching. Remain firm and built a foundation that cannot be shaken. It’s a call to always stand.
Become a reflection, an epistle to be read by the world. Make it all about Jesus
4. Be Prayerful.
Doing all the above things will change us and the way we pray. We live according to Psalms 37; delighting ourselves in the Lord. Make time to pray and ask the Lord to do His will. Pray according to the Word of God. Have the desire to live according to the Word of God.
Conclusion
Make resolutions that please and reflect God.
