Trust and Obedience
Book(s): Numbers 20:6-8, 11-12
By Brother Evans
To trust is to place confidence in or to rely on. Additionally, obedience is compliance with an order, request, or law or submission to another's authority.
God wants us to trust and obey His Word over our lives and it shall be well with us.
Numbers 20:6-8 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 So Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and they [a]fell on their faces. And the glory of the Lord appeared to them.
7 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 8 “Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.”
Numbers 20:11-12 New King James Version (NKJV)
11 Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.
12 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”
Moses and Aaron were commanded to speak to the rock to release forth water to drink. However, they struck the rock which still released water but through lack of trust and disobedience, they did not step into the promised land.
Normally, disobedience is a result of mistrust/ doubt and this is what leads us astray from the will of God in our lives. Brethren, listening, trusting and obeying are the key ingredients of doing the Will of God. Obedience is better than sacrifice. 1 Samuel 15:22-24.
Believers, stop depending on your own strength and rely upon the command of God to lead you. This shields us from disobedience i.e. when we trust.
Psalm 46:10 New King James Version (NKJV)
10 Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
So brethren, stop the anxiety, worry, bitterness, pain and be still, be silent…. yes, I say be still for God is in control.
Be blessed
