Holy Spirit
Morning Exhortation by Christine Gatura
Book(S): Genesis 1:2
Theme: Holy Spirit
Genesis 1:2 New King James Version (NKJV)
2 The earth was without form, and
void; and darkness [a]was on the face of the deep. And
the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
The topic of Holy Spirit always brings new revelation and understanding
of His Will and Who HE is in our lives. Today’s sermon will still focus on this
subject, Holy Spirit, who came after Jesus Christ ascended to heaven and dwells
in us. See John 15:26
John 15:26 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Coming Rejection
26 “But when the [a]Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from
the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will
testify of Me
Before we proceed to the role of Holy Spirit in us, we need
to get the names identified with the Holy Spirit. Note that they are
many in the Bible but we shall view 10 names of Holy Spirit in the Bible.
i.
The Spirit of God.
ii.
The Spirit of Judgement and Burning.
iii.
The Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding.
iv.
The Spirit of Counsel.
v.
The Spirit of Knowledge and Fear of the Lord.
vi.
The Power of the Highest.
vii.
The Spirit of Life.
viii.
The Spirit of Adoption.
ix.
The Spirit of Prophecy (Revelation 19:10).
x.
The Comforter (John 14:16, 26).
Likewise, the roles of the Holy Spirit in our lives are what
guides us to live a whole life in Jesus Christ. Without Him, we would stumble
and fall.
The Duties of the Holy Spirit
1.
He creates and gives life to ALL things
2.
He is the source of Wisdom (Isaiah 11:2)
3.
He sanctifies the Church
4.
He works miracles through the brethren
5.
To abide with the saints forever
6.
Teaching
7.
To testify Christ
8.
He Convicts us of sin, righteousness, and judgement.
How can Holy Spirit depart from you?
1.
Through constant sin without remorse
Romans 8:26-27 New King James Version (NKJV)
26 Likewise the Spirit also
helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we
ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession [a]for us with groanings which cannot be
uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts
knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession
for the saints according to the will of God.
1 Thessalonians 5:19 New King James Version (NKJV)
19 Do not quench the
Spirit.

2.
Blasphemy against Holy Spirit
Matthew 12:31-32 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Unpardonable Sin
31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will
be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.
32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him;
but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either
in this age or in the age to come.
So how does Holy Spirit manifest?
In this sermon, we will share scriptures to explain how
the Holy Spirit manifests in our lives
·
As a fire
·
As a voice
·
As wind
·
As rain
·
As earthquake
Acts 2:1-4 New King James Version (NKJV)
Coming of the Holy Spirit
2 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all
[a]with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven,
as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were
sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them [b]divided tongues, as of fire, and one
sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and
began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
1 Kings 19:11-13 New King James Version (NKJV)
God’s Revelation to Elijah
11 Then He said, “Go out, and
stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed
by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the
rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not
in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not
in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a
fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the
fire [a]a still small voice.
13 So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he
wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the
cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you
doing here, Elijah?”
