Doing the Word Part 2

Your greatest enemy is ignorance. What you do not know is your greatest destroyer. If there is someone the enemy cannot stand, it is a knowledgeable Christian.

Hosea 4:6a

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

Isaiah 5:13a

Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have no knowledge;

What you do not know is your greatest enemy. Many Christians continue to be deceived because they lack knowledge of the Word of God. They do not know what is theirs according to the scriptures, and continue to buy miracles and giving in to false teachings.

The Word of God is the light that illuminates your life. There may be darkness in your life, but the Word of God will shed light in your life and get rid of any trace of darkness.

Luke 6:40

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.

The Bible is our training manual, and under the perfect training, you can be like Jesus.

Luke 6:43-49

43 “For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”

Your life will be a product of what you deposit in your heart. If you want to see good things in your life, start making the right deposit. You cannot go to an ATM machine and withdraw what you have never deposited. You can sing around the ATM machine, dance around it, cast out demons etc. but the only thing you can withdraw is what you deposited. Same as your life. You can never withdraw more than what you have deposited. If you want to withdraw good things, then deposit good things.

To both builders, storms came. This means that in life storms will always come, whether you deposited good things or bad things. The only difference is who remains standing. If you want to remain unshakeable, be a doer of the Word of God. The Word of God is the best deposit you can make in your heart. Doing the Word of God will build you upon an unshakeable foundation, which no storm of life can affect.

Do you want to remain unshaken no matter the size and magnitude of the storms of life? Be a doer of the Word of God.

Joshua 1:8
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Why is the Word of God referred to as the Book of the Law?

This is because it is the constitution of heaven. It contains laws, and every law is attached to a consequence if broken. Just like there are natural laws, the Bible contains laws and there are consequences to breaking them.

If you want to become prosperous, do what the Word of God says, and be obedient to what you are told. Every time you open your mouth, you should say what the Word of God has says. This is what "...shall not depart from your mouth" means. Apart from doing what the Word says, we are required to say what the Word says. God modeled this:

Genesis 1:3
Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
There was darkness, but God did not speak what He saw; He spoke what He wanted to see. If you want to see something different in your life, speak what you want to see, not what you are seeing. If you want to change the present situation, stop talking about the situation. If God saw darkness and continued speaking darkness, light would have never appeared.

Suppose you own a cat and a dog, and you have the cat with you. You want to see the dog, and you do not know where it is. What do you do? You do not call the cat, as it is what you can see; you call the dog. You call what you do not see, but want to see. If you were ignorant and decided to call what you are seeing and "be realistic", the dog will never come. You call the dog as if it was there, and it will appear from its hiding place.

Many Christians want to see different situations in their lives but continue speaking about their present situations. You cannot change your present situation by speaking about it. The only way you can change it is by speaking about what you want to see, as if it is there.

Your prosperity and blessing comes from doing what God has commanded you to do.

John 2:5
His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it."
This is Jesus' mother at the wedding at Cana of Galilee, when the wedding ran out of wine. She told the servants to do whatever Jesus said. By doing what Jesus said, the first miracle that Jesus performed according to the book of John came to pass. Your miracle is in whatever He tells you to do. Whatever Jesus says to you in His word, do it! Obedience is very important in this walk with Christ.

1 Samuel 15:22-23
So Samuel Said: "Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king."

The Lord takes more pleasure in obedience than any offerings and sacrifices we may offer Him. He values our obedience more than anything else we may give Him. He compares rebellion to witchcraft, and stubbornness to iniquity and idolatry! In short, He sees the rebellious (those who refuse to obey His word) as witchdoctors, and the stubborn (those who do not do as He tells them) as idolaters and being full of iniquity. This is how much God hates disobedience.

Do you want to walk in victory and success? Whatever He says to you in His word, do it!
