How to Discover Our Destinies
The gift and purpose of God over your life cannot be consumed by anything.
The lions could not get an appetite for Daniel; they could not consume/ eat Daniel's purpose. That problem that stands as a lion before you cannot consume your destiny. The fire that Shadrach, Misheck and Abednego were thrown in could not consume the purpose of God over their lives.
The destiny of God in your life will stand every fire, and cannot be crushed. Your destiny will press you into your destiny.
We must know and fulfil God's destinies over our lives. there is no excuse that can hinder us from fulfilling God's destiny and purpose over our lives, as our Lord Jesus is greater than all. Purpose keeps lions and fires from consuming you.
When we desire to discover our destinies, God will guide us in them.
Let us look at a few things that will help us discover our destinies, according to the scriptures.
1. See
Genesis 13:14-17
And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him; "Lift your eyes now and look fromthe place where you are - northward, southward, eastward, and westward; 15 for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. 16 And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. 17 Arise, walk in the land through its length and width, for I give it to you."
Lift up your physical and spiritual eyes. We already have destinies. When God says He has good plans for you, He is not saying that He is drafting your plan -- He already did it. Until you start seeing the gift of God in your life, you cannot walk in your destiny.
What do you see yourself doing, every day of the week? Lift your eyes and start seeing. As you see it, that's how it shall be. If you do not see it, you will never get it. You get whatever you start seeing. Better see it, because you shall get it. Do not wait for anyone to start seeing for you. Do not limit God in your seeing.
God told Abram to start seeing, then in verse 17 He tells him to arise and walk. He could not walk if he had not seen. You cannot walk if you do not see.
Isaiah 60:4
"Lift up your eyes all around and see..."
You cannot afford to be at a stagnant point; open your eyes and see. The miracle is just around where you are; lift up your eyes and see! Look around the church; what are you expected to do? For your spiritual destiny to be fulfilled, wherever you see a gap, meet it. Look around. In business, open your eyes and look around you, not in far countries. Start where you are. Look for opportunities around you.
If you do not see the gap and try filling it, you will never meet your destiny.
Proverbs 20:12
The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both.
God gave you ears to hear and eyes to see. See it the way God sees it. God created those eyes to see!
Ezekiel 12:2
"Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, which has eyes to see but does not see, and ears to hear but does not hear; for they are a rebellious house..."
Failure to see and hear is rebellion, in the eyes of God. You must see opportunities for businesses, friendship, jobs etc.
Joshua 6:2
And the Lord said to Joshua: "See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor.
If God has commanded you to see, do not see the wall, see the city. Do what it takes to get it. It does not matter the barriers that are around your miracle. Do not stop seeing. The issue is not the wall; it's about what you can see.
By telling Joshua to see the city of Jericho in his hands, He knew that the city was fortified. He did not tell him to see the wall, but the city beyond the wall. Joshua could not have conquered the city without first seeing. Once you start seeing, the power to see unlocks the gates of what is hidden/ is unseen/ invisible. This power to see makes the unknown known.
Seeing sets you free from limitations; you start getting the energy and hope is generated again, for you to get what you can see. Hope can never fail. As long as you can see it, you will endure any suffering. Whatever you are going through is not your end.
As we saw earlier during this series, the pit, Potiphar's house and his wife, and the prison all did not hinder what Joseph saw (Genesis 37-47). Tribulations, sufferings and disappointments will not stop you, as long as you saw it. Seeing will fuel your persistence. It may not be fulfilled in a day, but as long as you can see it, it shall come to pass. Even if they do not believe you or in you, as long as you see it, it shall come to pass. Joseph's family did not have to believe in his vision for it to come to pass. As long as you see and believe, it will surely come to pass.
Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish
Where there is no vision, people perish; the vice versa is true. Where there is vision, people live. People who see their destinies never die. Never lose the vision of where you are going.
2. Write down what you see
Habakkuk 2:2-3
Then the Lord answered me and said: "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come. It will not tarry.
God knows the thoughts of a man can discourage him, and thus told him to write his vision down. Get a pen and a paper and write your vision down, as the Lord reveals it to you. Write down where you see yourself in the future, as the Spirit reveals.
3. Speak your destiny to a trusted man/ woman of God.
When you speak it, that person holds you accountable and leads you to walking in the destiny, besides praying for and with you. You need a mentor, someone who will not be envious of you and your destiny. Use wisdom, do not speak anyhow as anyone can be used by the enemy to be a hindrance. Joseph, by speaking his vision anyhow, ended up in a pit, his brothers being used to hinder his vision.
4. Start taking small steps.
Faith without actions is dead.
Zechariah 4:10
For who has despised the day of small things?
Start where you are. Do not despise small beginnings/ small steps.
5. Press on in faith and in prayer.
It is not by might, not by power, but by the Spirit of God (Zechariah 4:6).
Philippians 3:13-14
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Press on, by faith, not by sight.
2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Press on by faith, without fear.
Have you seen your destiny? Do not despise it. Start from where you are, by seeing.
We'll keep discussing other topics in relation to walking on the path of our destiny, which are crucial to helping us walk in the destiny that god called forth, prepared and guided for each one of us.
Amen.
