Much More Love
But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me.” “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.” Isaiah 49:14-16 NKJV
We all have had an opportunity to observe or even experience the love of a mother for a child. For me it's a mystery how a mother can love a child that much. I know it's said that it's because they bore the child for 9 months in their womb, but still there are mothers who have adopted children and still love them passionately, a love that can even be felt. Many mothers would do anything for their children, and I've seen and heard of mothers go hungry so that their children would eat, others take up huge loans for the education of their children and are left paying it off never once asking the children to help them pay it back after they get jobs, some prefer to die at birth so their babies could live and so on.
As amazing as this is, God is the One Who put this love in them and says that their love for their children still can't compare to His love for us. He says that despite all the love the mothers have for their children they’d forsake their children before He forsook His people. The children of Israel at the time of this message were at a point where we all as believers have come to, where we doubt God's love, care, presence in our lives and so on. If you're there today your heavenly Father wants you to know that He cares for you so much and loves you way more than anyone on earth would. Your Father in heaven has your name inscribed on the palms of His hands, has your walls before Him continually (is keen about your protection) and says that He had numbered the hairs on your head (Matt. 10:30). We may wonder if He’s aware of our situation, but He says He's not only aware but is also aware of the number of hairs on our heads. That's how much detail your heavenly Father knows about you, and since this is true surely He knows about your situation. I don't have the way forward for your specific situation, but I know you will draw strength and peace (and maybe direction) from the reminder that your heavenly Father has not forgotten about and never will, that He still loves and deeply cares for you.
Grace and peace to you!
