Sticking to the Right Path

A path is a way made, or a track. We see paths all over, which indicate direction towards a certain place. Life also has a path. Jesus is the Way and the Truth and the Life.

John 14:1-6
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know." Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?" Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." NKJV
No one comes to the Father except through Christ. You cannot connect to the Father except through Christ.

"I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own." John 10:9-14 NKJV

When you are in the right path you get many shake-ups, which is why the Bible also talks of the thief coming to steal, kill and destroy. Don't worry about the thief. Just follow the right path, as in that path you're promised life in abundance, through Christ. The thief can't get you off the path; he can only distract you. Whatever he brings is just a distraction to get your eyes off the path, off the life that Jesus came that we may have. He does not care about you, even though he may whisper lies about how you may be on the wrong path and so on. Don't listen to him. Listen to Jesus, the good Shepherd Who cares for you and Who is well acquainted with the path of life; actually He is the Path of life.

"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep." John 10:11 NKJV

Why are you worried? When you follow the right path, even if the thief comes you won’t be shaken, as you’re with the good Shepherd.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1 NKJV
I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. John 10:14 NKJV

They may mock you that you look forsaken, but don't be shaken. Lean on the right path, for this Jesus will not leave you.

Benefits of staying in the right path

  1. You will be blessed. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the LORD! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways. You have commanded us to keep Your precepts diligently. Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed, When I look into all Your commandments. Psalms 119:1-6 NKJV. God's blessings don’t come haphazardly. Remaining on His path positions us for that which He wants us to receive. Walking out of His path is walking away from His blessings and life.
  2. In storms, Jesus is with you (see John 6:16-21). Even when shake-ups come, as long as you're with Christ, don't be afraid. Don't ask why the storms are coming. They also came to Jesus, as He was also tempted. In the midst of the storm Jesus will reveal Himself and His power.
  3. In shake-ups and little faith, Jesus will reveal Himself to you. (see Matthew 14:22-32). The disciples benefited in walking in the right path, though sometimes in fear.

Sometimes when walking on God's path it seems like His plan is stalling, as if we're late to where God wants us to be. God is the Author of time, and His time is the right time.

Then the LORD answered me and said: "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry. Habakkuk 2:2-3 NKJV
One day one time it shall surely come to pass, as long as you stick to the right path. Don't take shortcuts.
I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth - Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, and will trust in the LORD. Psalms 40:1-3 NKJV

Wait patiently upon the Lord. It's not too late. God will come through for you, if only you follow the right path and stick to it, patiently.
