What does it mean to be on the mountain? Matthew 14:23 New King James Version (NKJV) 23  And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. The scripture of today edifies us to walk this journey of salvation first individually (so as to grow in the Spirit) and in unison with the brethren (so as to edify each other) Today we are looking at the aspect of the journey of salvation alone. Understand that this does not mean not fellowshipping with the brethren rather it means understanding salvation on an individual level. There are instances in the Bible (illustration in the above verse) when Jesus Christ separated Himself from the brethren and went to pray alone on the mountain. Believers, there comes a time when you have to separate yourself from the crowd to personally pray and edify your spirit man. Many at times as believers we tend to go ahead of the Good Shepherd (Jesus Christ) and decide to chart our own paths different from the Shepherd’s intention. This normally occurs due to disobedience and leads us to murky waters and we slip and fall since we do not know the uncharted path we chose to walk to. Three Things Continuation The Bible says that we are not of this world, though we live physically in this world and therefore we should not love this world but should overcome all that is in it. (Read on John 17:6-19) Back to the sermon of the day. Believers, the moment we accepted Jesus Christ is the moment our identity became of heaven and no longer of the world. (Philippians 3:20-21).
