Walking in the Light

1 John 1:6-7 (KJV)
If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanseth us from all sin.

1 John 2:9
He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

God calls us to walk in the light, just as He is in the light. He is light, as well as love (1 Jn. 4:8). So us walking in the light means walking in His love. The Word of God says that we should love one another as we love ourselves (Mk. 12:31).

When we received salvation, it was out of the love that God has for us. He wants us to spread the same love to other people so that they may know Him through us. We did not receive salvation for ourselves only, but for everyone around us, for Christ to be manifested in us.

Love involves praying for one another, encouraging each other, helping those in need and so forth. Love does not expect anything in return; it requires you to give selflessly. As we spread the love of God through our deeds, others get to know about God, as He is love, and in doing so we allow His light to shine on them. We should capitalize on every opportunity we get to share the love of God to people around us, seeing them as God sees them, without judging them.

1 John 3:11
For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,

From the beginning, God has been loving us, revealing His love to us, and appealing to us to love others. This should prompt us to love others, unrelentingly, as He does. When we love, we learn to see people the way God sees them. We do not judge through what they do or say, and in doing so the love of Christ spreads through us.

Children of God, let us love one another as Christ loves us not for our sake, but for Him to be glorified. Let us love one another, so that people may get to learn of the love of God through us, and desire to know Him too.

Blessings.
