The Way Has Already Been Provided

Image
A way is a path; it’s also a method of moving from place to place. God has already provided the way, His name is Jesus. All you need is to trust Jesus to take you there. John 14:1-6 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.   2   In My Father’s house are many mansions;   if   it were   not   so,   I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.   3   And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am,   there you may be also.   4   And where I go you know, and the way you know.” 5   Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”  6   Jesus said to him,   “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Every time somebody reads this verse there is a possibility of the mind rushing to imagine it’s about waiting to die and go to heaven. Indeed it’s true (for those who believe in Christ) that our final desti

The God Kind of Love Part 2

We pick up from where we left off last Sunday, contemplating about this spirit and power called love. We learnt that God taught us on the best expression of love, which is giving. God is Spirit, and does not have a physical body. Many a times we need to feel loved, and be told physically that we are loved. God has given us our loved ones as an expression of His love. Think about that person who really loves you: they are an expression of God's love for you, that is why He brought them your way. Many times we fight these people, instead of appreciating them and thanking God for them.  God not only loves you dearly, but cares for you deeply. Look at this: Matthew 10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.  30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.    A sparrow is so cheap, yet it is God who allows eve

You Cannot Give Up Now

A person's true self is known when circumstances, whether victory or failure, push him or her to the farthest end. Try to stretch a rubber band and release it at once, what do you notice? That is similar to a person who is trying to adjust to a sudden and intense change. After the rubber band lands, it will settle. For every spectator in any race or game, it is wise to maintain a cool state and allow players to first deal with their joys or frustrations, whatever the case may be. Being emotionally carried into their reactions may be unwise because the wearer only knows the greatest pain due a tight shoe. It is okay to react, but not at the expense of loosing self respect or control. Again, reaction should not be as a result of manipulation, or mob psychology. Victory or losing can both bring fatigue.  1 Kings 19:1-21 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, also how he had executed all the prophets with the sword. 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, sayi

The God Kind of Love Part 1

What is love? Love is that reasoning, that intentional spiritual devotion such as is inspired by God’s love for us and in us. To be clear, there are 4 types of love, according to the original Greek manuscripts:  Eros – erotic/ sexual love Storge – family love Philia – Brotherly friendship and partnership. It is the highest level of love that we humans can attain, without God’s help. It is the highest level of love for man. Agape – Unchanging, self-giving love. Love that gives without expecting or demanding repayment. Can love the unlovable and unappealing, love that is self-denying. The kind of love that we want to look into is not Eros, Storge or Philia, but Agape. During the rest of this sermon when we mention love, we'll be talking about the God kind of love, that is Agape love.  Let us go into a deeper meaning of this God kind of Love: Love is of God. God is love: 1 John 4:8  He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.   1 John
