David, a Man After God's Own Heart

2 Samuel 3:1 Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. But David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker. There comes a time we come against many things in life, just like David, who seemed to be fighting many battles all through his life. According to our opening verse, even though war kept facing David, we see him growing stronger and stronger. How can we get stronger and stronger, regardless of the many battles that keep facing us? Let's pick a few lessons from the story of David. 1. David was a praise and worshiper. He used to praise God in the spirit, spontaneously, which is why we see many of his songs in the book of Psalms. This is the key to us getting stronger and stronger. There are many things that may be facing you; choose to worship and praise God, even in your situation. Don't focus on how you look or what people may think about you; praise Him anyhow, and this is what will cause you to

Are You a Son?

Luke 15:11-32 Then He said: “A certain man had two sons.  12  And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood.  13  And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.  14  But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want.  15  Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.  16  And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything. 17  “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!  18  I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you,  19  and I am no longer worthy to be calle

The Holy Spirit: The Game Changer, Pt. 2

Let us pick off from where we left off in the previous teaching, on the Holy Spirit.  God wants you to have an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit, such as the disciples had with Jesus. He is your key to living a victorious life, but you have to know Him, and fellowship with Him. He is not a “thing”, or an “it”, as some think. He is a person, with a mind (1 Cor. 2:11), love (Rom. 15:30), a will (1 Cor. 12:11), emotions which is why He can be grieved (Eph. 4:30), can speak (Acts 13:2) and is a Gentleman Who cannot force Himself on us, which is why we’re told not to quench Him (1 Thess. 5:19). We need to relate to Him as we relate to other human beings, actually just as we would relate to Jesus if He were present with us. The Holy Spirit was given to us to abide with us forever; He doesn’t leave when you sin, as some people think, and come back when you repent. He promised never to leave you nor forsake you (Heb. 13:5). You can only walk away from Him, when you renounce Jes

The Holy Spirit: The Game Changer

The Holy Spirit is one of the most important gifts God gave us when we accepted Christ. Before Jesus left, during His final days on earth, He kept telling the disciples about the Holy Spirit, introducing Him to them. Many things were to happen to the disciples once Jesus died, resurrected and ascended to heaven, and Jesus would have explained all of them to the disciples, before leaving: being recreated, forgiven, justification, redemption, freedom, deliverance, healing, receiving the wisdom of God, the gifts of the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit etc. Yet He didn’t tell them of these all. He kept His focus on one Person, and talked about Him a lot: The Holy Spirit. He said: John 16:7 (AMP)   However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [i
