On the Mountain

Image
What does it mean to be on the mountain? Matthew 14:23 New King James Version (NKJV) 23  And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. The scripture of today edifies us to walk this journey of salvation first individually (so as to grow in the Spirit) and in unison with the brethren (so as to edify each other) Today we are looking at the aspect of the journey of salvation alone. Understand that this does not mean not fellowshipping with the brethren rather it means understanding salvation on an individual level. There are instances in the Bible (illustration in the above verse) when Jesus Christ separated Himself from the brethren and went to pray alone on the mountain. Believers, there comes a time when you have to separate yourself from the crowd to personally pray and edify your spirit man. Disclaimer: this does not mean that the Spirit is not with us or fellowshipping with us. Rea

Being a Waiter in The Process of Restoration

Book(s) Genesis 17:2-6, Isaiah 54:1-5 In this season, the promise of restoration still stands to us as brethren and therefore we need to hold fast to that assurance. Additionally, what are you doing when you are waiting for the restoration promise to come to accomplishment? The Lord calls us to serve in the kingdom of God as we wait for the promise to come. In comparison to the waiters/stewards in a restaurant, who wait for promotion as they continue serving dutifully, we should also purpose to serve God wholeheartedly in His Kingdom. Genesis 17:2-6 New King James Version (NKJV) 2  And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.”  3  Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying:  4  “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of  [ a ] many nations.  5  No longer shall your name be called  [ b ] Abram, but your name shall be  [ c ] Abraham; for I have made you a father of  [ d ] many nations.  6

Follow Me and I Will Make You

The sermon of today is to teach us how God wants us to be and do when it comes to doing His will. Now today we’ll answer this with one word; “Follow” Before we embark on this journey, let’s define the word “Follow” Follow - go or come after (a person or thing proceeding ahead); move or travel behind. Book(s) Matthew 4:17-22 New King James Version (NKJV) 17  From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven  [ a ] is at hand.” Four Fishermen Called as Disciples 18  And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.  19  Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”  20  They immediately left  their  nets and followed Him. 21  Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James  the son  of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them,  22  and i

Book(s) Ezekiel 36:24-27 New King James Version (NKJV) 24  For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land.  25  Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols .  26  I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh .  27  I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. When man fell, his three forms (spirit, soul and body) ceased from walking in unison and conflict arose inside of him. The body always goes against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh(body). Brethren, redemption through Jesus Christ fulfilled the promise that was in verse26 of Ezekiel 36. Additionally, the Spirit of God now and dwell in us (in the heart-check verse 27) and we are righteous because of Him

Book(s) Numbers 23:19-23 New King James Version (NKJV) 19  “God  is  not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? 20  Behold, I have received  a command  to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it. 21  “He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen  [ a ] wickedness in Israel. The Lord his God  is  with him, And the shout of a King  is  among them. 22  God brings them out of Egypt; He has strength like a wild ox. 23  “For  there is  no  [ b ] sorcery against Jacob, Nor any  [ c ] divination against Israel. It now must be said of Jacob And of Israel, ‘Oh, what God has done!’ The verse of today comes from the story of Balaam (a messenger of God) and Balak (King of the Moabites). Balack demanded of Balaam to go and curse the children of Israel but God intervened and declared that Balaam cannot curse who God has blessed. Let’s break down

Being Led

Image
Many at times as believers we tend to go ahead of the Good Shepherd (Jesus Christ) and decide to chart our own paths different from the Shepherd’s intention. This normally occurs due to disobedience and leads us to murky waters and we slip and fall since we do not know the uncharted path we chose to walk to. Believer, the message of today is to choose to be led by God in all aspects of our lives. Let’s start by looking at the following verses Psalm 32:8 New King James Version (NKJV) 8  I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Proverbs 4:11 New King James Version (NKJV) 11  I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. Believers, it is God who leads us on our destinies and therefore we should not depend on our own strength but should always look to Jesus Christ to guide us. Romans 8:14 New King James Version (NKJV) 14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Believ

Overcoming The World and Everything That Is in It

Image
Three Things Continuation The Bible says that we are not of this world, though we live physically in this world and therefore we should not love this world but should overcome all that is in it. (Read on John 17:6-19) Back to the sermon of the day. Believers, the moment we accepted Jesus Christ is the moment our identity became of heaven and no longer of the world. (Philippians 3:20-21). Many at times we, as believers, tend to forget our identity (that we are not of this world) and hence we let the things of the world disturb our minds and hearts and for some it becomes a hindrance in your journey of salvation. Let’s look at the main verse of today on the first letter of John. 1 John 2:15-16 New King James Version (NKJV) Do Not Love the World 15  Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  16  For all that  is  in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of
